ABOUT THIS SITE

As a detectorist, you're in elite company...

That’s because you share something with the likes of Magellan, Sir Francis Drake, and even Indiana Jones (note Coronado’s Cross in the image above). It’s the DRD4-7R gene variant that scientists now call the “explorer’s gene”.  And although you might not sail  exploring the seven seas, you have a genuine passion for “discovering the unknown” hidden below the coil of your detector. And that’s what this site will help you do… keep that passion alive and discover treasure.

Like our Sir Francis Drake the “detectorist” shown here, you already have a detector. So we won’t try to show you what to buy, or how to use it. The Internet already offers tons of resources on those topics. But the one thing that most detectorists need more than anything, is where to detect on virgin sites where every swing of the detector is full of the excitement of pure detecting.

So imagine spending several days using a handful of exploration secrets and a unique combination of everyday technologies to reveal so many pure virgin detecting sites that it would take you years to unearth the hidden treasures waiting to be discovered. Well, you don’t have to imagine any more.

The Six Lessons in our Start Searching section offer you ideas and step-by-step guides to revealing more exciting sites than you could detect in a decade. Or, you can also begin exploring some of the topics below.

What you won't find here is advice on locating everyday places

Yes, it’s admittedly fun detecting beaches for clad and jewelry. The same goes for parks and outdoor event gatherings. Those are all modern places of common knowledge that could be detected by anybody… and sometimes when you see filled holes, it feels like everybody. So we won’t cover those as they’re not really untouched “pure detecting locations”.

However, historic beaches, parks and gathering places that are mostly forgotten and hidden by the hands of time are in fact some of what we’ll learn to unearth here. And much more listed below.

Here’s some of what you will find… and learn
